Our approach to HSE&A management is a central pillar of our Values. Through respect for our people, our contractors, our stakeholders and the environment, we pursue our principal aim: Safe Results, with no harm to people and respect for the environment.

Culture and Personal safety
We have a strong safety culture and our people visibly demonstrate strong safety leadership. Should operational results and safety ever come into conflict, our people have a responsibility to choose safety over operational results. During 2020, an independent review of our safety culture provided positive feedback on the strong commitment to safety throughout EnQuest, with well-motivated and informed people supported by robust processes. This was demonstrated by the successful implementation of mitigations to minimise the impact of COVID-19 on our people and operations, and despite the disruption caused by enahanced processes, we achieved a Lost Time Incident frequency rate of just 0.22, well below the UK Continental Shelf benchmark of 1.28. Furthermore, we saw a 79% reduction in safety-critical repair orders; and a reduction in reportable hydrocarbon releases.
Our group-wide HSE&A management system is structured in line with ISO 14001 and covers occupational and process safety. The management system in the UK complies with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) Standard – OHSAS 18001:2007, while the framework of the management system in Malaysia complies with the Offshore Self-Regulation Management System (OSRMS) and PETRONAS Procedures and Guidelines for Upstream Activities (PPGUA) requirements.
We are committed to continual improvement in our HSE&A performance, periodically auditing and reviewing our entire HSE&A management system to identify opportunities for improvement. We have a robust incident investigation process to ensure that incidents are recorded and investigated, with any relevant lessons learned shared across the organisation.
